The Manzanillo Martenos rode a solid performance from 29-year-old starting pitcher Gabriel Ruiz to a win, beating the Santiago de Cuba Soneros, 4-1, at Campo de los Martenos. With the win, the Martenos hiked their record to 19-8.

Ruiz dominated for Manzanillo, raising his record to 2-3. Santiago de Cuba hitters had few good at-bats against the right-hander, who scattered 4 hits over 9 innings while striking out 5.

"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Ruiz.
