Monjes Grises Stick Soneros with 7-4 Loss
The rain did not keep Ciego de Avila and Santiago de Cuba from finishing their game.

The Ciego de Avila Monjes Grises topped the Santiago de Cuba Soneros, 7-4, with youngster Huáscar Guzmán playing a key role. Guzmán was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Monjes Grises in the win. Homero Escobar got the win, improving to 1-3. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Picking up his 4th save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Héctor Montes.

Early in the game, Guzmán had a 2-run double for Ciego de Avila. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Monjes Grises on top, 2-0.

Guzmán said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.

Ciego de Avila is now 15-17. Santiago de Cuba is 15-19.
