Camaguey Drops Another One, 6-4
|
The Camaguey Tinajones extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Santiago de Cuba Soneros.
The Santiago de Cuba Soneros besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Camaguey center fielder Anaxímenes Vásquez by beating the Tinajones, 6-4, at Terreno de Soneros. Vásquez was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Santiago de Cuba reliever Manuel Zendejas picked up the win, raising his record to 9-6. Germán Alvarado was tagged with the loss.
Santiago de Cuba took a 6-3 lead on Faustino Lecea's 11th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Lecea hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Camaguey pitcher Germán Alvarado shaking his head.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Lecea told the Santiago de Cuba News. "But we take nothing for granted."
The slumping Tinajones have dropped 8 in a row.
