Habana got a terrific performance from pitcher Amadís Pérez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cienfuegos Elefantes. Cienfuegos won the Parque de los Leones contest, 2-1. Pérez threw 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. Hermógenes González recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 3. Cienfuegos bumps their record to 41-42 with the win.
Cienfuegos used the timely hitting of Ronaldo Ramírez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Elefantes on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Runs were at a premium," said Cienfuegos manager Eduardo Galarza.
