Manzanillo Mettle Tested in Tight 2-1 Win
The Manzanillo Martenos faced a tough opponent in Las Tunas pitcher Constancio Hernández, but found a way to pull out the victory at Campo de los Martenos by a final score of 2-1 in 17 innings. Hernández went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Casto Brana got credit for the win, improving to 6-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Manzanillo is now 35-19, Las Tunas 27-23.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 17th for Manzanillo. That's when 40-year old left fielder Enrique Bañuelos hit a run-scoring double off Fernando Vázquez to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"Now that's what I call an exciting game," said Martenos manager Bruce Lowry.
