Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Pinar del Rio Guajiros take on the Cienfuegos Elefantes.
Pinar del Rio Guajiros starter Héctor Arellano pitched well against the Cienfuegos Elefantes at El Campo de los Guajiros, leading his team to a win, 3-1. Manuel Herrera nailed down his 7th save.
Manuel Herrera got a big out in the top of the ninth. The Elefantes were trailing 3-1, but Cienfuegos had a runner on 2nd with one out. Herrera threw a first pitch fastball to Crispín Navarro, who popped out.
Pinar del Rio is now 36-31.
