Marco Cárdenas of the Nueva Gerona Marmoleros was cool and collected on the mound, leading his club to a shutout victory over the Pinar del Rio Guajiros, 2-0.
"He was mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," Nueva Gerona manager Etelfrido Ángel said later. "When Marco does that, good things happen."
The right-hander had 1 strikeout, no walks and allowed 4 hits in the win.
Cárdenas has posted a 4-10 record for the year with a 2.91 ERA. Teams are hitting .244 against him and he has rung up 33 strikeouts in 130 innings.
