The Las Tunas Escultores picked up a win at Estadio de los Escultores, knocking off the Holguin Pericos, 5-4. On the mound for Las Tunas was right-hander Pedro Medina. He played a key role in the triumph. The Escultores are now 46-28, while the Pericos fall to 40-35.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Orlando Dávila came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Holguin pitcher Demetrio Briones, he hit a 1-0 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Las Tunas on top, 5-4.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Dávila.
