Escultores Take Tight Tangle
The Las Tunas Escultores faced a tough opponent in Manzanillo pitcher Gabriel Ruiz, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Campo de los Martenos by a final score of 2-1. Ruiz went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Las Tunas reliever Fernando Vázquez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-4. Donato Pasillas was saddled with the loss. The Escultores now own a record of 42-37.

Timely hitting helped the Escultores beat the Martenos. Prime example: the two-out single Seamus Armstrong registered in the top of the 15th. Facing Donato Pasillas, Armstrong gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Both teams played hard," said Las Tunas manager Alberto Nevárez.
