The Santiago de Cuba Soneros picked up a win at Terreno de Soneros, dropping the Manzanillo Martenos, 4-2. Manuel Zendejas, who finished 3rd in the TORI in saves with 10 in 1907, was the difference-maker. The winner was Zendejas. He threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Gabriel Ruiz. Getting the save was Rómulo Rodríguez, his 15th.
In the bottom of the fifth, Santiago de Cuba catcher Telmo Espinosa had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Espinosa stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-2, Santiago de Cuba. For the game, he was 3-3 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Manzanillo manager Bruce Lowry.
At 32-52, Santiago de Cuba is in third place in the Torneo Oriental Santiago de Cuba.
