Martenos Deal Tabacaleros 5-2 Defeat
|
Campo de los Martenos was the site for Torneo Oriental action featuring the Trinidad Tabacaleros and Manzanillo Martenos.
Manzanillo picked up a win at Campo de los Martenos, bumping off the Trinidad Tabacaleros, 5-2. Pitcher Casto Brana was a major reason the Martenos emerged victorious. Brana picked up the win for Manzanillo, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 12-3.
Tied up with the Tabacaleros in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Martenos got a boost from first baseman Bill McAleer. With runners on 1st and 2nd, McAleer saw a 3-1 changeup from Bradley Rose and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Manzanillo on top, 3-2.
"We put it together and came out with the win," McAleer said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Martenos move to 56-39 with the win, while the Tabacaleros drop to 51-43.
