Habana and Artemisa got after it at Campo de Artemisa.
Kayne Ariss pitched a gem to lead Habana to victory over the Artemisa Rojos, 5-1. Ariss, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 0, walking 4, and allowing 1 run.
Luis Cornejo dealt the Rojos a blow in the top of the first. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Habana leading 1-0, Cornejo, who is a two-time All-Star, hit a 2-2 cutter for a 2-run single.
"I'm happy we won," said Ariss. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
Habana now sports a record of 46-51.
