Pinar del Rio Guajiros starter Carlos Macías turned a whale of an effort into a win over the Mayabeque Alacranes. The final score was 2-1, Pinar del Rio. The winning pitcher was Macías, now 13-9. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 3.
Eufemio Hernández was 1-2 for Pinar del Rio. The 33-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Diego Arocho. It was his 78th hit of the season.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Macías.
Pinar del Rio is now 59-45, while Mayabeque is 56-47.
