A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Culiacan Galanes and Tijuana Matadores.

Culiacan pitcher Anatolio Aponte had a large part in his team subduing the Tijuana Matadores, 5-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The win gives Culiacan a record of 2-0.

Culiacan used a clutch at-bat from Martín Flores to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Galanes ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I was determined to go the distance," said Aponte.
