|
Coahuila got a decent performance from pitcher Ben Downie, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sonora Chacales. Sonora won the Estadio de Saltillo contest, 3-2. Downie threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Gastón Esparza earned the win. Ben Downie, who finished 2nd in the LN in ERA with 1.94 in 1908, took the loss for Coahuila. Lewis Nicol closed it out for Sonora, earning his 1st save.
The Chacales got a big at-bat from first baseman Eduardo Encinias. For the game, Encinias was 1 for 4 with a triple. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 4th triple of the season gave Sonora a 1-0 lead.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Esteban Bellán.
The loss makes Coahuila 17-10.
