Culiacan and Nuevo Laredo got after it at Estadio de Nuevo Laredo.
The Culiacan Galanes topped the Nuevo Laredo Colibris, 7-3, in Norte action at Estadio de Nuevo Laredo. The standout performance belonged to Culiacan pitcher and Villalba, Puerto Rico, native Alejo Núñez. Núñez, who leads the LN in wins with 7, went the distance for Culiacan. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits.
Culiacan used a well-timed hit by Hestio Peña to capture the win. The right fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Galanes ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I felt good even in the late innings," said Núñez after the game.
With the win, the Galanes sit at 23-17.
