The Ciudad Juarez Nortenos eked out a 3-2 win versus the Mexicali Algodoneros at Estadio Municipal de Juárez. Nobody did more than pitcher Rosario López. He was terrific. López, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Ciudad Juarez goes to 22-20, while the Algodoneros fall to 25-18.
Julio Maruri provided some late-game heroics for Ciudad Juarez. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-2 sinker from Héctor Vargas and propelled Ciudad Juarez to a 3-2 lead.
"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Mexicali manager Adalberto Abarca.
