Victory Pushes Jinetes Record to 25-21
|
The Jalisco Jinetes and Culiacan Galanes completed their game despite the rain.
The Jalisco Jinetes finished off the Culiacan Galanes, 6-4. Much of the credit belonged to first baseman Gustavo Ortega. Ortega was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Jinetes. Álvaro Navarro, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-4. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3.
Jalisco took control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and a runner on 3rd, Eufemio Castellanos hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, Jinetes.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Castellanos. "You've got to get results."
The third-place Jinetes lifted their record to 25-21.
