Nortenos Earn Win with Late Rally

Ciudad Juarez and Tijuana exchanged scoreless frames until -- at last -- someone crossed the plate.
The Ciudad Juarez Nortenos got a scintillating performance from pitcher Jorge Vicente, who shut out the Tijuana Matadores, 1-0. Ciudad Juarez is now 20-38, Tijuana 22-37.
Batting in the bottom of the tenth, three-time All-Star Juan Morales had a real shot to win the game. Tijuana pitcher Crispín Saavedra was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Morales hit a run-scoring single. The Nortenos had a walk-off triumph.
"It was a good win," Vicente told the Ciudad Juarez Chronicle. "Enough to get the monkey off our back? I don't know."
