Rosario López was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Ciudad Juarez Nortenos hurler tossed a 6-hit, complete game shutout against the Nayarit Mariachis.

"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said López. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."

López walked 4 and struck out 1 in the 2-0 victory.

This season, López has compiled a 2-6 record with a 3.26 ERA in 8 starts.
