The Jalisco Jinetes and Nayarit Mariachis provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Nayarit Mariachis took Jalisco pitcher Ignacio Rodríguez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Parque de los Mariachis. The final score had Nayarit getting past the Jinetes, 3-2. Rodríguez went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 1. After today's action, Nayarit sits at 39-36, while Jalisco falls to 36-40.
Amentario Zamora hit a 2-run triple off Ignacio Rodríguez in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Mariachis in front, 3-2. Zamora had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 4.
"This was a tough loss," said Jalisco manager Manuel Quiñones. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
