Matadores Suffer 4-3 Loss to Mariachis
|
Nayarit picked up a win at Parque de los Mariachis, bumping off the Tijuana Matadores, 4-3. Pitcher Tsunemori Sugimoto was a major reason the Mariachis emerged victorious. Sugimoto, now 5-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. The Mariachis now have a record of 35-47 with the win over Tijuana.
The Mariachis benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the seventh. With Eamonn Sheridan at bat and Nayarit leading 3-1, the Tijuana miscue allowed Nayarit to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-1.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Sugimoto.
