Michoacan first baseman Saúl Ramírez played a vital role in his team's 7-4 conquest of Merida. He went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Michoacan. Michoacan goes to 52-29, Merida to 29-50.

There was more than one reason the Calaveras beat the Trovadores, but Ramírez's big at-bat in the bottom of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-2 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Saúl may be green behind the ears," said Calaveras manager Pablo Sánchez. "But he's quickly learning how to contribute."
