The game between Veracruz and Oaxaca is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Veracruz Vigias knocked off the Oaxaca Zapotecos, 7-4, in Sur action at Campo de Oaxaca. Veracruz pitcher and Obregón, Mexico, native Matías Ochoa had an outstanding performance. Neftalí Montes, who finished 2nd in the LS in saves with 13 in 1907, earned the save for Veracruz.
Contributing to the Veracruz cause was Almandeto Ocasio. In the top of the fifth, the 31-year old second baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 5-3, the Vigias in front.
"They played a better game than we did," said Oaxaca skipper Dave Oldfield.
Veracruz is now 46-41, while Oaxaca is 37-51.
