Chorizos Fall, 3-1, to Veracruz

The Veracruz Vigias reigned over the Toluca Chorizos in damp conditions.
The Veracruz Vigias used a great performance from Salomón Portillo, who is on pace to win 16 games this season, to beat the Toluca Chorizos, 3-1, at Parque de los Vigías. In 6.1 innings, Portillo surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Neftalí Montes closed out the game, earning his 13th save.
The Chorizos had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Vigias going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the three-time All-Star Ranulfo Carrasco came to the plate. Carrasco hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 sinker from Toluca hurler Cristóbal Romero. It was Carrasco's 6th double of the year.
"It feels good to get this one," Carrasco told the Veracruz Today.
Veracruz is 5th in the Sur with a record of 48-42.
