Quetzales, Lara Pin Bad Loss on Cornicos

Chiapas and Hidalgo took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The exploits of catcher Alfredo Lara, who finished 3rd in the LS in on-base percentage with .369 in 1907, helped the Chiapas Quetzales defeat the Hidalgo Cornicos, 10-2. Lara was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Chiapas pitcher Adelio Guerrero earned the win, hiking his record to 5-5. Ángel Torres suffered the loss.
Had Norberto Adame not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Adame hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Quetzales.
"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Hidalgo manager Rafael Alecio. "We got flat-out beat."
Chiapas is now 40-56, Hidalgo 57-36.
