|
Monterrey Cerveceros pitcher Alberto Torres was in fine form, leading his team past the Jalisco Jinetes, 8-1. Torres got the win, improving to 6-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. The first-place Cerveceros have won 4 straight games.
Javier Martínez had a big 2-run double for the Cerveceros in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Monterrey leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 33-year old right-handed pitcher Ignacio Rodríguez and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cerveceros ahead, 4-1.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Monterrey manager Ricardo López.
