In a low-scoring contest between the Sonora Chacales and the Durango Alacranes, Lewis Nicol, who is tied for 7th in the LN in wins with 14, proved to be the difference. The Sonora right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Chacales win. Nicol got the win, improving to 14-15. He gave up 7 hits and walked 4 over 8.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Cicerón Sánchez, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.

Sonora used the timely hitting of Zósimo Sánchez to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chacales on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Sánchez.

The Chacales have now won 4 straight.
