Veracruz Slaps 8-4 Loss on Chetumal
|
The Veracruz Vigias and Chetumal Mayas completed their game despite the rain.
Almandeto Ocasio was instrumental in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Chetumal Mayas. The second baseman went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Veracruz Vigias. Sebastián Ramírez earned the win to go to 14-8. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 7 innings of work.
Belisario Salazar had a big 3-run home run for the Vigias in the bottom of the third inning. With Veracruz leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from Bowen Ray, who finished 5th in the LS in innings pitched with 280.0 in 1909, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Vigias on top, 5-0.
Salazar said afterward that "winning is the goal."
Veracruz goes to 59-54, Chetumal to 52-63.
