With left fielder Gustavo Ortega leading the charge, the Jalisco Jinetes defeated the Durango Alacranes, 8-3, at Estadio de Durango. Ortega, who finished 3rd in the LN in RBI with 69 last year, was 4 for 4 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. The Jinetes improved their record to 56-57 with the win over Durango.
The Jinetes got an important contribution from shortstop Nasir Kadeer, who in the top of the fourth hit a 1-2 knuckle curve to left-center for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 13th triple of the season and put the Jinetes ahead, 4-0.
"We'll put this win in the can," said Kadeer, "and go after the next one."
