Mexicali beat Durango in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Mexicali beat Durango on the strength of starting pitcher Takeshi Funakoshi's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. Funakoshi, who is tied for 7th in the LN in strikeouts with 120, went the distance for Mexicali. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits.

Hernán Donado had a big run-scoring triple for the Algodoneros in the top of the second inning. With Mexicali leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Cristóbal Andrade, who is on pace to win 15 games this season, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 8th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Algodoneros ahead, 2-0.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Donado told the Mexicali Observer.

With the win, Mexicali goes to 59-58, while the Alacranes fall to 64-53.
