Down to Defeat Goes Sonora, 6-2
|
Mexicali Algodoneros starter Augurio Marín kept the Sonora Chacales hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-2 win. Marín, now 12-12, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Mexicali, at 56-62, occupies 10th place in the Norte.
Raúl López had a big run-scoring triple for the Algodoneros in the bottom of the first inning. With Mexicali leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Hestio Rodríguez, who is tied for 9th in the LN in wins with 12, and swatted a triple to center. It was his 9th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Algodoneros ahead, 2-0.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," López told the Mexicali Gazette.
