The Tijuana Matadores were defeated, 3-2, by the Monterrey Cerveceros in 10 innings at Estadio de Tijuana, even though Mateo Hernández pitched well for Tijuana. Constantino González, the winner, is now 11-14. He struck out 3 and walked 5 over 9 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The Cerveceros now have a record of 67-52 with the win over Tijuana.
Monterrey used the timely hitting of León Arriaga to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cerveceros on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Ricardo López.
