The Toluca Chorizos could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Cristóbal Romero into a win. Instead, the Veracruz Vigias prevailed, 3-2. Romero threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Veracruz is now 68-55, while Toluca is 67-56.

Veracruz used a well-timed hit by Belisario Salazar to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Vigias ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Salazar told a Veracruz Today reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
