The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

Vladik Ofitserov, who finished 4th in the LS in strikeouts with 134 last year, propelled his team to victory over the Veracruz Vigias. The final score was 4-3, Merida. Merida, at 52-71, occupies last place in the Sur.

Tied up with the Vigias in the top of the fourth inning, the Trovadores got a boost from third baseman Héctor Enciso. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Enciso saw a 2-0 cutter from Noé Rojas and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Merida on top, 3-2.

"Both teams played hard," said Merida manager A.J. Foley.
