Monterrey took on Ciudad Juarez in front of a lively crowd.

The Monterrey Cerveceros picked up a win at Parque de Monterrey, topping the Ciudad Juarez Nortenos, 6-3. On the mound for Monterrey was right-hander Germán Medina. He played a principal role in the triumph. Medina, now 30-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. Cristóbal Martínez sewed up the save, his 5th.

Ubaldo Guerrero had a big 2-run double for the Cerveceros in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Monterrey leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Ernesto Silva and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cerveceros ahead, 6-3.

"Germán was really on it," said Monterrey manager Ricardo López. "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."

The Cerveceros, at 74-55, sit in first place in the Norte.
