Extra-Inning Win by Cornicos Over Vigias
The Hidalgo Cornicos defeated the Veracruz Vigias, 4-3, in 10 innings in Sur action at Jardines de Pachuca. Hidalgo pitcher Jesús Montiel had a standout performance. Hidalgo reliever Julio Irizarry was the winner. His record is now 13-19. Brodie Johnson took the loss. The Cornicos go to 56-73, putting them 9th in the Sur.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 29-year old left fielder Faustino Villaseñor had a real shot to win the game. Veracruz pitcher Zenón Pichardo was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Villaseñor hit a run-scoring single. The Cornicos had a walk-off triumph.

"The crowd was raucous," said Montiel.
