All went well for Francisco Martínez of the Nuevo Laredo Colibris as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 4-0, over the Ciudad Juarez Nortenos, limiting them to 7 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Martínez on the day.
"Francisco's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Colibris manager Luis Estrada. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Nuevo Laredo right-hander rang up 6 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Nortenos manager Gabriel Dávila. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This season, Martínez has gone 15-16 with an ERA of 2.21, posting 119 strikeouts in 265 innings.
