The Merida Trovadores sent the home crowd home ecstatic.

The Acapulco Aztecas could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Caleb Major into a win. Instead, the Merida Trovadores prevailed, 5-4, in 11 innings. Major threw 7.0 innings allowing 4 runs. Merida currently is in last place in the Sur at 54-74.

In the bottom of the 11th, Dirk Turley had a chance to deal the knockout blow. And he did, punching a run-scoring sacrifice fly to right-center off Acapulco pitcher Nicolás Carillo.

"Good hitters want to be the ones taking those big at-bats," said Turley.
