The Lubbock Layabouts picked up a win at Lubbock Grounds, knocking off the Amarillo Horizons, 5-1. Starting pitcher Séptimo Salazar played a key role in the triumph. Lubbock, at 25-21, sits in first place in the Western Association Abilene Circuit.

Alberto Palomino aided the Lubbock cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.

"Winning never gets old," said Palomino.
