The Cardiff Arcadians downed the Bangor Bishops, 7-1, at Bishops Fields. Stellar pitching by Luis Melchor had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the BFE&W in complete games with 12, handcuffed his opponent all game. Melchor got the win, improving to 12-2. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. Cardiff is 36-17 and Bangor, with the loss, 30-23.

Solón Figueroa had a big 2-run double for the Arcadians in the top of the second inning. With Cardiff leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Mateo Brito and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Arcadians ahead, 4-0.

"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Melchor.
