Winchester and Birmingham got after it at Winchester Fields.
The Winchester Barons picked up a win at Winchester Fields, downing the Birmingham Tradesmen, 8-3. On the mound for Winchester was left-hander Gunder Carstensen, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 8.2 innings, Carstensen surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs.
Lennan Casey, the Winchester second baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 4-2, Barons. For the game, Casey was 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Carstensen.
