Talons 2B Brandt hits 2 home runs in Win
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Sheffield-Derby ballgame.
The Sheffield Talons defeated the Derby Rams, 7-3, in part because of second baseman Lucas Brandt. Brandt was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Talons. Belerofón Heredia, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-5. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Augusto Hernández nailed down the save.
Catcher Alarico Piedrahita made an impact for Sheffield, when he swatted a bases-clearing double off George Benson in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Piedrahita went 1 for 5 with a double. He drove in 3 runs.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Talons manager Quirke Carmichael.
Sheffield currently is in 5th place in the Baseball Federation of England & Wales English Baseball Championship at 39-48.
