Clarke Stars in 5-1 Cork Win
|
The Cork Salmon and Derry Maidens completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Cork Salmon converted a terrific effort from starter Billy Clarke into a win over the Derry Maidens at Salmon Stadium. The Salmon won the game by a final score of 5-1. With the win, Cork goes to 49-58, while the Maidens fall to 54-51.
Clarke threw well for Cork, thwarting the Derry offense. The left-hander tossed 121 pitches over 9 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits.
"I can't say enough about Billy," said Cork manager Tricky Nichols. "He stepped up when we needed him."
