The Newport Stevedores reigned over the Swansea Copper Lords in damp conditions.

Starting pitcher Erwin Genge was a major factor in the 4-1 Newport Stevedores triumph over the Swansea Copper Lords. Genge yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-15.

The Stevedores got a lift from 32-year old shortstop Kyle Darcy, who had a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the second inning off Rodulfo Camarena. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put Newport in front, 2-1.

"We're trending in the wrong direction," said Swansea manager William Munro.

After today's action, Newport sits at 34-68; Swansea slips to 48-53.
