Olympians Curb Lynx, 3-2
|
The Tempe Olympians earned a close win over the Prescott Lynx, thanks in part to Bonifacio Martínez. The Tempe right-hander, who leads the WFBA in quality starts with 24, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Picking up his 14th save was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Perseo Ibarra. The first-place Olympians improved to 74-44.
Ricardo Martín, who is tied for 4th in the WFBA in RBI with 57, had a direct impact on the outcome. Martín contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Tempe up, 3-1.
Tempe manager Matt Austin commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
