Conditions were not ideal but Dublin and Derry were able to put their game in the books.

Derry wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Ramón Contreras, falling to the Dublin Vikings, 4-2. Contreras threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Jerry McBean nailed down his 10th save.

The outcome might have been different for Dublin, had it not been for Alejandro Ramos, the 25-year old right fielder . Ramos stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Dublin up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Derry skipper Edelmiro Pompa, "and it cost us."

With the win, the Vikings are 36-68.
