Giants Get Past Reds, 2-1, to Open R1
The Round 1 got off to a quiet start, with the traveling New York Giants taking a low-scoring, 2-1 win over the host Cincinnati Reds. New York right-hander Tim Mitchell was marvelous at League Park II 1894-1901. The Giants now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Phil Geier made it 2-1, in favor of New York when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the ninth. The Giants went on to win.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Geier.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at League Park II 1894-1901 in Cincinnati.
