With catcher Tomás Lugo leading the charge, the Angostura Amargados defeated the visiting Cumana Atunes, 6-5, in Game 2 of the Serie Preliminar. Lugo was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once at Estadio de Angostura to help Angostura force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.
Had Lugo not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Lugo hit a run-scoring single. The Amargados took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
"We're happy," Lugo told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Estadio de Angostura in Ciudad Bolívar.
