The home team gave the crowd some walk-off drama.

Luis de Paula could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Limerick Gandelows lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Derry Maidens at Maidens Grounds. Derry reliever Jorge Pérez picked up the win, upping his record to 5-6. Luis de Paula took the loss.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, 25-year old shortstop Gualberto Orozco won it for Derry. With a runner on 2nd, Orozco hit a first pitch changeup from Luis de Paula for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.

"This one wasn't over until it was over," Orozco said, postgame.

The Maidens improved their record to 57-54 with the win over Limerick.
